The Changing Face of Retail in Our Area: A Panel Discussion

- Bill Malley, vice president of sales at Malley’s Chocolates, graduated from St Ignatius and Ohio State University and started working at Malley’s in 1985, which his grandparents started in 1935. His job includes corporate and fundraising sales. Malley's has 23 retail locations in northeast Ohio, including one in Village Square in Woodmere.
- Shawn Fortner, Sales Associate, Cushman & Wakefield / CRESCO Real Estate, brings seven years of experience in commercial real estate on the landlord side. She specializes in procuring leases with unique national and local retailers for prominent shopping centers and high street retail. Shortly after graduating from The Ohio State University with a BSBA in Real Estate, Shawn joined Glimcher (now Washington Prime), where she focused on leasing Class A malls and lifestyle centers across the country. In 2016, Shawn moved back to Cleveland where she was hired by DDR to handle the leasing of nearly five million square feet of retail space in power centers. Joining Cushman & Wakefield / CRESCO Real Estate in 2017, she has since closed deals with major national retailers including Chase Bank, Bank of America and Spectrum and unique regional retailers such as Whistle & Keg, a Youngstown based craft beer tasting room.
- Jason Russell is the neighborhood general manager at Van Aken District in Shaker Heights, the newest shopping destination in the eastern suburbs. Jason has served in a variety of positions focused on improving the built environment. Formally educated as an urban planner, Jason has held roles in the public and private sectors. From crafting zoning codes to managing a mixed use development, Jason has worked closely with residents, elected officials, engineers and architects to create vibrate urban communities. Jason is currently a South Euclid city council member.
